Dairy Farmer Phil Le Maistre elected Chairman of Jersey Milk Marketing Board

Phil Le Maistre was elected Chairman of Jersey Milk Marketing Board on Thursday 15th December 2022 after Andrew Le Gallais MBE stepped down after 23 years.

Phil will take over from Andrew’s role as chairman and continue to lead the Island’s dairy industry with positivity, enthusiasm, and longevity.

Phil has been involved in farming his whole life and he is a 6th generation farmer. He works alongside his brother, Peter (president of the Jersey Farmers Union) and their two sons, Philip and Matthew.

Phil started dairy farming in 1989 at Westlands Farm in St. Brelade when he only had 8 cows that he purchased from a neighbouring farm. Since then, the Le Maistre family has invested significantly in the business to create modern facilities for the 240 head Jersey herd that Phil’s son, Philip manages today.

Phil is extremely passionate about farming in Jersey and applying environmental practices throughout the dairy industry. Local dairy farms are continuing to develop specific initiatives to improve dairy farm emissions, biodiversity, and soil health. Jersey dairy farmers are proud to farm with care for the future of the environment, wildlife, countryside, food, and animals.
